The Tortoise and the Hare

It’s not complicated. It’s the tortoise, not the hare, who won the race. It was the “slow and steady” that crossed the finish line first. Consistency will get you there. Just keep plugging along, slowly moving forward in the same direction, and you will get there. If you dart around all over the place without a sure direction, you’ll never get there. You have to know where you’re going and then follow your road map. You have to have a plan, and then follow it, whatever it is. It may seem like you will never get there, but that’s the “Secret.”

  • Discipline is like smooth sailing; it will make sure you arrive.
  • Discipline is the bridge that helps you cross the gap.
  • Discipline is how you move things or accomplish things.
  • You keep creeping in, shaving off, whittling away at it, inching closer
  • Constantly breaking your personal best, edging past your last record
  • Stretching, leaning, growing, expanding

Break It Down

Like moving a house or a huge Christmas tree across country, you keep breaking it down into manageable chunks.

Like cutting up a steak into bite-size pieces to be able to eat it.

Like busting up a boulder or mountain into smaller pieces so you can carry it away.

Break It Down!

  • 1 Step
  • 1 Bite
  • 1 Word
  • 1 Whittle
  • 1 Brick
  • 1 Pound
  • 1 Dollar
  • 1 Lesson

If you have a project or a dream that seems insurmountable, break it down. If you are having a hard time wrapping your hands around it, break it down. If it still seems unmanageable, break it down. Keep breaking it down until you can handle it. When it’s “just your size” then you know you can do it because it’s manageable.

See To Be

A Path

A Path

You will get to your destination because you know how and you have the discipline to follow your road map. Breaking it down until you can see the way gives you the heart and discipline to be able to follow it. If you can’t see a path, you won’t follow it. Once you see there is actually a way to get there, you are excited that it really is a possibility, and that gives you the heart to follow the path to your destination.

Then you can see yourself thin, or owning your own business, or building a nice retirement, or writing that book. It becomes a possibility instead of an impossibility. See it to be it. Then keep putting one foot in front of another, i.e. discipline which builds endurance, and you will get to your destination and see your dreams become a reality!
